a year in the life (part 2)
the second half of the year was more demanding than the first half
as we worked with dope couture, aristocrats, mozzo, mission cycling
and illest.
it left us looking forward to a little down time as the year comes to
a close.
best wishes to everyone in the new year.
remember, december 21st ends the whole shebang.
make it a good one.

a year in the life (part 1)
the past year found form3 as busy as we've been since 2009.
it started with the re-design of the hayes valley huf store and
continued through the first half of 2011 as we completed the
new undefeated store in san francisco.
in between was the awesomely cool new benny gold store in
the mission district and black scale's new badass los angeles
store.
(not to mention a large number of furniture commissions and
our side of graphic design work.)
we absolutely look forward to what 2012 brings.
(beside the end of the world.)

classic christmas
when jules bass and arthur rankin put their stamp on this holiday
classic, they created some of the most indelible images of the santa
claus myth that have ever been created.
who doesn't love the heatmiser? his theme song alone might be the
best christmas song ever!
or, the burgermeister meister burger?
classic!
so, remember to put one foot in front of the other this season
and have a safe and happy holiday.

new tees in the olde house
when the olde sonoma public house in boyes hot springs needed a
design for a limited edition holiday tee shirt, they approached form3
with the hopes we'd knock out a little graphic work in our spare time.
no problem.
one week later.
viola!
on sale now at the pub: the holiday tee 2011.
you're welcome, olde sonoma.

prepared for the worst
christopher hitchens, an outspoken, polemic journalistic voice as well
as a leading proponent of atheism, died yesterday in a houston hospital.
his career spanned over four decades and numerous assignments
throughout the world.
william grimes posted a comprehensive, albeit brief, history of his
62 years on this planet in the nytimes today.

storming heaven
high noon is approaching for the biggest manhunt in the history of
physics.
at 8 a.m. eastern time on tuesday morning, scientists from
cern, the european center for nuclear research, are scheduled to
give a progress report on the search for the higgs boson — infamously
known as the “god particle” — whose discovery would vindicate the
modern theory of how elementary particles get mass.
excellent article in today's science section of the nytimes.

a shot to the hardt
we've mentioned the amazing work of the our favorite jewelry
designers, triian, before, but this time around it's a little more
about our good friend brian burkhardt, half of the duo that creates
triian's outstanding jewelry.
earlier this year, we found out he was going to be one of the twelve
contestants on lifetime's companion to project runway:
project accessory.
needless to say, every thursday at 10pm, we've been tuning in
to see how brian has not only been faring, but how he has been
dealing with the idea of a reality show.
to his credit, he's maintained a strong connection to his creative
integrity and hasn't tried to reduce his work in order to placate
either judges or audience.
the results?
amazing work that has proved victorious in the last two week's
challenges. (we know that sounds corny, but we're big fans at this
point.)
it's this strategy that now has his work available through kenneth
cole.
not bad for a kid straight outta long island.

sitting pretty
yesterday's delivery of this handsome pairing of fine form3
seating was welcomed with two huge smiles from hakeem
and huri as they watched the delivery truck pull up to their
san anselmo home as the sun was nearly setting.
after six weeks of waiting, they finally have their first form3
pieces and they were thrilled.
as huri put it, "they're pretty".
uh, yeah. pretty badass.

black hole sun
astronomers report that they have taken the measure of the biggest,
baddest black holes yet found in the universe, abyssal yawns 10 times
the size of our solar system into which billions of suns have vanished
like a guilty thought.
excellent article in the nytimes space and cosmos section today for all
you space chimps.
