heads up
working closely with a couple in petaluma over the last few
years has brought a few surprises along the way, but none
more than these two fellas.
our clients are both vegans and absolute animal lovers, yet
they've decided to incorporate some old family taxidermy
out of respect to cousins, uncles and close friends who have
hunted on their property in sonoma county over the years.
it looks like these two will be having more company in the
months to come as contributions seem to be coming in daily.

the big idea
the architecture of bjarke ingels has demonstrated nothing
less than a spectacularly innovative way of looking at one of
the fundamental disciplines known to humankind.
his design principles navigate a bold vision into this new century
with a steady hand and open mind, providing inspiration to
the next generation of dreamers.
last month's interview in the new yorker shines a bright light
on one of the brightest minds working in architecture today.
needless to say we're admirers of both him and his firm BIG.

down at the crossroads
cutting through the backroads of sonoma county during a
workday makes "work" seem a little bit more like a sunday
drive than anything else.
especially when you find yourself at the crossroads in front
of ernie's tin bar outside of petaluma.
if you can't find the time to stop in and have a cold one, then
you don't have time to enjoy the finer things in life.
this is where greg spent lunch yesterday on his way from
sonoma out to our studio in tomales.
needles to say...best lunch EVER!

drinking it all in
a couple months ago we were having a cold pint at one of
our favorite watering holes in sonoma county: the olde
sonoma public house.
with 32 taps of world class beers to choose from, it was
a bit of a challenge trying to follow the drink board and
make in informed decision.
greg made a suggestion to owner coley thinnes while
enjoying rubicon brewery's monkey knife fight pale
ale and next thing you know (actually six weeks later),
the olde sonoma pub has a new drink board.
this is coley standing front and center behind the bar,
toasting us for a job well done.
many thanks to derek, dave, coley and all the people who
offered kind words later in the afternoon on what "an amazing
job" the form3 crew did in creating what may be "the coolest
drink board in the entire county".
(those are actual quotes.)
you're welcome.

if i would, could you?
our fabrication studio had very little room to spare as
the final coats were being applied to the timbuk2 doug
fir paneling this afternoon.
set for installation in early november, this particular
element of the new design should have a significant visual
impact as you enter the doors at 506 hayes in san francisco.
this pic was sent by our project coordinator, derek, just as
the day was coming to a close.
we're impressed how the form3 crew fit all 28 panels in this
horizontal configuration.
(i guess all that tetris action derek's mom said would never
amount to anything seems to have paid off after all.)

black is the new black
having worked closely with the solid crew at black scale
the past several years on their stores in los angeles and
downtown san francisco, it was a pleasure for the form3
crew to be part of their new store at 1409 haight in SF.
as final painting touches were applied, we moved everything
in place for their grand opening this weekend. new rack displays,
benches, point of sales, floor display...
huge thanks to mega, ryan, ruben, paris, derek and everyone
else that lent a hand the past couple days.
it looks awesome.
if you find yourself in the upper haight this weekend, make sure
to stop in and grab some of the hottest graphic apparel on the
west coast.
tell them form3 sent you.

if we build it, they will come
our project coordinator, derek, leads the form3 crew as
we begin fabrication on the new designs for the timbuk2
san francisco flagship store in hayes valley.
the next month will see all our team in full gear as we shoot
for an early november installation date.
wish us luck.
we're going to need it.
