king of clay

it's beyond impressive to watch what this man can do on a clay
court. what should be cross court winners by his opponent are
effortlessly returned, it seems, with an amazing amount of
precision and force to turn the tide of a point and the game.
healthy and confident again, rafael nadal waltzed through the
french open final this morning in straight sets, raising his
overall record at
roland garros to an unbelievable 38-1.

since last year's lost in the quarterfinals, he has dedicated
himself to overcoming injury and improving upon an already-
blistering game of tennis. that type of perseverance and
commitment stands as a testament to a work ethic that doesn't
allow for excuses and produces the winning results he has
become so accustomed to.

condolences to robin soderling and all the other players who
find themselves facing nadal or roger federer time and again
in grand slam finals.
