free killer light show!

a solar eruption on sunday, called a coronal mass ejection,
was spotted by NASA's solar dynamics observatory , which captures
high-definition views of the sun at a variety of wavelengths. SDO
was launched in February and peers deep into the layers of the sun,
investigating the mysteries of its inner workings.

the sun's surface blasted tons of plasma (ionized atoms) into space
and these atoms are headed toward earth, creating a stunning light
show in the process.

for anyone who has seen the aurora borealis before, they know it's
well worth staying up late and keeping your looking balls peeled up
at the sky. i envy all those folks in higher latitudes who will have
this awesome opportunity.
